The National Science Foundation awarded UW Tacoma one of its 35 National Artificial Intelligence Resource (NAIRR) Pilot Awards, granting access to advanced computational resources to support AI research.
Martine De Cock and Paulo Barreto are using the resources to advance their research in privacy-preserving AI, focusing on synthetic data generation for AI systems without compromising personal data privacy. Their collaboration with Sage BioNetworks in Seattle aims to apply privacy-enhancing technologies to develop AI solutions for rare diseases while maintaining confidentiality.
