GovScape is an efficient search system for PDFs from the End of Term Web Archive’s collection of documents and webpages. Created by a University of Washington-led research team, GovScape currently allows users to search 10 million PDFs hosted online during Donald Trump’s first term, with goals to expand to the entire End of Term Web Archive in the future.
With digital archives getting bigger and bigger, finding information amongst millions of pages can be a challenge. To make this information more accessible and easier to locate, the research team developed GovScape to allow users to search documents in three simple ways, using either keywords, semantics or images.
