We envision a future where AI at the University of Washington is a global model for innovation, diversity and societal impact — bridging disciplines and inspiring responsible applications of AI to address complex challenges. Our goal is to lead the way in advancing ethical, interdisciplinary AI research while fostering practical innovation to benefit society at large.
In partnership with innovators and collaborators in the Pacific Northwest and around the world, the University of Washington seeks to create, harness and deploy AI across fields to drive cutting-edge scholarship, solve humanity’s greatest challenges and prepare a talented and diverse workforce to be leaders in an AI-powered world. We will advance research, translation and ethics at the confluence of disciplines and technologies, embracing collaborations and complexity to better serve our communities and our planet. We will also educate and train our students to be influential and responsible AI users and innovators.
Through collaboration, education and outreach, we aim to push the boundaries of AI technology in service to the public good.
